The role
You will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy construction equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable, and operational.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy construction equipment
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on diesel engines and related components
- Inspect and test machinery to identify potential issues and ensure proper functionality
- Utilise diagnostic tools and software to determine equipment faults
- Conduct repairs on hydraulic systems, transmissions, and fuel injection systems
- Maintain accurate service records and reports
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure equipment availability
- Provide recommendations for repairs and preventative maintenance schedules
Skills required
- Preference is for Diesel Mechanics with proven experience on construction or earthmoving equipment, however, candidates with mining or forestry equipment backgrounds will also be considered
- Relevant automotive trade qualification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant hands-on experience
- WTR endorsement and HT licence advantageous
Sound customer service skills
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
