The employer is an NZ owned, well established franchise dealership based in Taranaki and they are looking to employ a Service Manager.
About the role
You will lead a team of technicians and other relevant workshop / service staff.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • General workshop management
  • Provide guidance to service department personnel
  • Assisting technicians with technical queries
  • Maintain superior working relationships with staff and other managers
  • All related administration and reporting
  • Ensure customer issues / complaints are resolved in a timely and effective manner
  • Strong communication with the team and customers
  • Increasing service sales and profitability
  • Managing productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure workflow runs smoothly
  • Motivating technicians to higher levels of achievement
  • Control of service operations
  • Client liaison
  • Overseeing health and safety as applicable to your department
  • Manage department and expenses
Skills required
It is essential that you have experience in the franchise automotive industry. An experienced Service Manager would be first choice, however, someone with relevant experience, perhaps in an Assistant Service Manager role, looking to progress would also be of consideration. Those with experience in other automotive industry roles will also be considered such as those in parts, workshop controllers, senior service advisors, assistant service managers etc., as long as they have gained some form of supervisory experience.
You must also have proven mechanical/technical knowledge, as well as a grasp of the workings of a service department and solid computer skills. An automotive trade qualification would be extremely beneficial.
