As part of that growth, they're looking for an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Tauranga.   Key responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults across heavy construction equipment Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on diesel engines and associated systems Inspect, test, and assess machinery to identify issues and ensure reliable performance Use diagnostic software and tools to determine equipment conditions Carry out repairs on hydraulic systems, transmissions, and fuel injection components Maintain accurate service documentation and reports Follow all safety procedures and comply with industry standards Work closely with team members to meet equipment availability targets Provide advice on repairs and preventative maintenance planning   What we're looking for Preference will be given to Diesel Mechanics with hands-on experience in construction or earthmoving equipment, although candidates with mining or forestry backgrounds will also be considered. Your diagnostic skills will need to be top class as you need to be able to work unsupervised. This is a full time, permanent role offering a minimum of 40 hours per week. Duties will include:  Electrical and electronic service, maintenance, diagnostics, and systems optimisation of their battery electric forklifts and related material-handling equipment fleet You’ll work across a range of equipment in a multi-site, high-growth environment, with opportunities to transition across different vehicle platforms along with a never-ending evolution of equipment as the company expands Troubleshoot electrical controls and drive systems: AC motor/drive inverters, VFDs, regenerative braking control, motor testing, and control wiring Perform preventive maintenance on forklifts (lifting/tilting mechanisms, mast systems, hydraulic circuits, and safety interlocks) and ensure optimal performance and safety compliance Installations of ancillary electronic components Manage battery charging infrastructure and safety procedures: optimise charging strategies (overnight charging, opportunity charging, or swapping plans) for uptime Maintain accurate service logs, report anomalies, and recommend component replacements or upgrades aligned with lifecycle planning Collaborate with operations to minimise downtime and support high-throughput environments while maintaining a safe work culture    Skills sought  Trade-based qualification and equivalent experience in electrical/electromechanical servicing of material handling equipment (experience as an industrial electric materials handling technician) Ability to diagnose issues across a mixed fleet and transition between different vehicle platforms as required in a high-growth company Strong problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, and excellent communication and teamwork    In return  While remuneration will be in line with skills held, it is anticipated this will mean a rate in the mid-40s or more Company vehicle provided Supportive, friendly culture with strong leadership and clear career progression Access to late-model equipment and modern diagnostic tools Opportunities to broaden experience across multiple equipment types and platforms as the company scales Comprehensive safety programs and ongoing training to keep you at the forefront of electrical and battery tech    Location and work environment Centrally located in Auckland with easy access and a collaborative team culture.
