About the employer
Acknowledged in Auckland as one of New Zealand's more credible diesel marine service and repair operations, the company's reputation is such that business has grown from word of mouth and this organic growth stimulates further business. As a result, it is now time to appoint another Marine Technician.

The role
Wherever you see larger recreational vessels, passenger ferries, and light commercial vessels, you will find the employer in the centre of the action. The role requires you to work on the full range of marine diesel engines including the following brands - Cummins, Cat, MTU, MAN, Volvo, Yanmar, Mercury, Hyundai, Gardner etc.

The company is involved in the following:
  • Onsite servicing
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshooting
  • General maintenance of vessels and ancillary items
  • There is a smaller content of diesel repairs outside the marine environment, but the focus is largely marine

Skills we are looking for
High speed marine diesel engine experience is required, ideally in a similar environment working with recreational and light commercial vessels such as ferries, barges etc. You will be qualified as a Diesel Mechanic and/or possess the skills outlined in a marine environment. This is not a ship engineers position - you will need experience in the recreational and light commercial marine areas outlined above.

Good customer skills are essential, so too clean work habits and an ingrained understanding that the employer's clients are often fastidious vessel owners. You will have good general boating knowledge and be able to work with a close, friendly team of professionals.

Remuneration and benefits
An attractive remuneration package is designed to appeal to those already in the trade considering change. The work environment is one of the key attractions, so the role ticks both boxes.
